  • Open Regattas: The racing season is in full swing and the clubs hosting these regattas welcome your participation.
  • Pay your SAIL dues; re-join for 2010: SAIL memberships are valid only for a calendar year. If you haven't paid your 2009 dues, you're not a member now. • Sailor overboard, drowns: On May 23, 2008 Bob Snare, a respected sailor, was on the foredeck of his boat at Cherry Creek Res. when a sudden gust of high wind caused him to go overboard.  He was not wearing a personal flotation device; when the crew got the boat back to him, he was no longer visible. His body was recovered that evening. The coroner has ruled his death due to accidental drowning.
  • West Coast Tragedy: On May 23, 2010, Tom Kirshbaum was reported missing when his 26-foot Folkboat ran aground on Venice Beach, California without him aboard. The previous day, he'd competed in a single-handed race around Santa Barbara Island & finishing off the West end of Catalina. Another race, Catalina to Marina del Rey, was postponed due to high winds and heavy seas, but he set out alone. His body was recovered four miles offshore from Long Beach.
